Our Story

TAPinto® started as a conversation between two entrepreneurs — and grew into a platform built around one belief: connection should be simple, owned, and shaped by the people who use it.

March 2023: the conversation that started it all

In March 2023, Bernard and Ian were discussing how to collaborate across our separate businesses. We kept running into the same friction: how do we make it easy for our clients to access each other's services? How do we share networks? How do we expand into different regions without starting from scratch?

That's when the phrase came up:

"Wouldn't it be good if we had a place where your clients could tap into my services, and my clients could tap into your services? Then we could all tap into each other's networks and tap into different regions."

We kept talking. And kept saying "tap into" — over and over. After about 20 times, we looked at each other and realised: that's it. That's the name. That's the idea.

December 2024: the wake-up call that changed everything

In December 2024, Bernard — one of our co-founders — had his LinkedIn account cancelled. No warning. No real appeal. An AI bot decided his family board game post violated community standards, and within hours, his 11.5K-person network was gone.

That moment made something painfully clear: the network you spend years building often isn't yours. It belongs to the platform — until it doesn't.

That's when we realised: connection should be owned by the people who build it, not rented from a platform.

The insight that shaped TAPinto®: one size doesn't fit all

As we started building, we noticed something important: platforms and programmes were forcing different sectors into the same mould.

An individual building a personal brand has different needs than an SME looking for local customers. A charity managing volunteers needs something different from a corporate managing employee networks. A membership organisation has different priorities than a public sector team.

Yet most platforms said: "Here's our system. Fit into it."

We decided to flip that on its head. Instead of forcing sectors into a mould, we'd build a platform that shapes itself to fit your needs.
